Dalmatia is a region without any administrative division; its contemporary term refers to Croatian territory that stretches from River Zrmanja on the north to the Cape Oštro in the south thus taking 12 km ², or about 21% of the Croatian territory. It is a historical complex which covers a large area and some of the largest Croatian towns in general. Although considered as one area, Dalmatia has been historically divided and nowadays consists out of multiple separate counties; Zadar county, Sibenik-Knin county, Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva county. Development of Dalmatia as a region that always knew how to cherish values of natural resources, its environment, a combination of nature and heritage, work and pleasure, historical legacy and the indelible lifestyles of different civilizations, offers great potential to carry out unique features characteristic for all four counties. Distinctive characteristics of coastline and islands, natural beauties of Dalmatian hinterland are greatest tourist potential which cannot be used on their own.
